Miss American Star Achievement girls are all about community service as a part of their pageant duties. For several years they have been working with the J. Robert Jamerson Memorial Library in Appomattox for “Wrapping for a Claws.”

Wrapping For a Claws is a yearly program that offers a way to get your holiday packages wrapped and tied up in bows in a fair or generous exchange of new and unopened pet food or other pet-related items. If a monetary donation is given, a volunteer will purchase much-needed pet food or supplies for the local shelter, or contribute to a local pet organization.

The Jamerson Library has been a supporter of these ladies, and a library staff member creates their bows. All supplies needed are purchased and donated by the ladies and the library volunteer so that each package looks festive for the season.

It is not too late to get your gifts wrapped, their final wrapping day will be on Saturday, Dec. 21 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Jamerson Library, located at 157 Main Street in Appomattox. Come support the ladies of Miss American Star Achievement, and help pets in need this holiday.
