Appomattox juvenile arrested for making school death threat on TikTok

APPOMATTOX, Va. -- On Jan. 5, the Appomattox County Sheriff's Office received a complaint in reference to a threat made on the social media app TikTok.

After an investigation it was uncovered a juvenile had made a threat to "end the lives of many students" during a school day.

Shortly into the investigation, Sheriff Robby Richardson notified and worked closely with Dr. Annette Bennett, superintendent of Appomattox County Public Schools, to ensure the safety of the students was of the highest priority.

The same day of the complaint, investigators identified a 16-year-old juvenile suspect of Appomattox County and charged as follows:

  • Felony -- Sending threats of death or bodily injury to a person

The juvenile is being held at Lynchburg Juvenile Detention Center until they can be seen by a judge. Anyone with information is asked to call the Appomattox County Sheriff's Office at 434-352-2666.
