The Appomattox varsity boys basketball team traveled to Brookville High School in Lynchburg on Friday, Dec. 27 and Saturday, Dec. 28 to participate in the Brookville Stinger Shootout.
Owen Chavis of Appomattox was named the Tournament Most Valuable Player for his outstanding performance on the court.
On Friday, Appomattox faced the Staunton River Golden Eagles for the first game of the tournament. Appomattox won with a score of 56-47.
Raiders head coach Raschad Kelso said, "They took control of the game early and never gave it back to Staunton River. They shared the ball well offensively and hit big shots when needed. Defensively, they made it tough for Staunton River to score on offense. They still need to work on focus. Sometimes when they are winning they lose sight and focus on what got them there."
