Appomattox Volunteer Fire Department (AVFD) has reported having a busy day today, responding to calls for trees on power lines, crashes, road hazards, and a structure fire.
Members have responded to 15 calls for service in roughly 12 hours.
On its Facebook page, AVFD expressed thanks to their crews, public safety dispatchers, line workers, Appomattox County Rescue Squad, Appomattox County Sheriff's Office, Virginia State Police, and Virginia Department of Transportation for all working together around the clock to keep the community safe.
NOTE from AVFD: Tonight road conditions may deteriorate as the temperature begins to drop. Stay safe and allow yourself extra time to travel!
