Mary Michael Millner named Appomattox County Public Schools 2024-25 Teacher of the Year

APPOMATTOX, Va. -- Appomattox County Public Schools is proud to announce Mary Michael Millner as the 2024-25 Division Teacher of the Year.

Ms. Millner is a teacher at Appomattox Primary School (APS) where she currently teaches Kindergarten. She earned her post-secondary degrees from Virginia Tech with a Bachelor of Science degree in Human Development and a Master’s of Education degree in Curriculum and Instruction in Elementary Education.

Millner began her career in education in 2019.

Millner exemplifies experience beyond her years in the actual field of education. She works hard to develop a lasting relationship with each of her students. Her students know that she cares for them all the while having high expectations while working with each of them to meet those expectations.

One of her colleagues wrote, “Ms. Millner has a positive attitude at work each day and handles each situation that comes her way with grace and patience. She works hard to maintain good relationships with her students’ families by contacting them frequently about their child’s progress. She is kind and respectful to everyone she comes in contact with.”

Millner will be nominated for the Region 8 Teacher of the Year which will be announced in the spring of 2025.
