On Saturday, Appomattox Middle School (AMS) outdoor track and field athletes competed in the Big Red Middle School Outdoor Track Invitational at Rustburg.

The AMS boys place second and the girls placed third overall. AMS coach Jamie Martin provided the following top results:

AMS Boys

— 4x100 relay team: 1st Place

— Xavier Mosley: 1st Place in the 100 meters, 200 meters, long jump and triple jump, and was part of the 4x100 relay team.

— Ji Ferguson: 2nd Place in the 100 meters, 200 meters, high jump and long jump, and was part of the 4x100 relay team.

AMS Girls

— 4x800 relay team: 1st Place

— Courtnee Holland: 1st Place in the 100 meters, 200 meters and long jump.

— Elly Nash: 1st Place in the 1600 meters, 800 meters, and was on the 4x800 relay team. She was also part of the 4x400 relay team that placed 3rd.

— Jamiya Troxler: 1st Place in the shot put.

— Hailey Thompson: 2nd Place in the triple jump.
