The Town of Appomattox Council agreed to award the 2020 Curbside Garbage Collection Contract to County Waste on Monday, replacing current contractor Republic.

The three-year contract comes with two opportunities for renewal, meaning it could turn into a nine-year contract. Town Manager Gary Shanaberger said their package is best suited for the community of Appomattox.

The annual cost for the contract is $134,843. That calculation includes the $11,760 option should the town decide to go forward with the bulk waste service.
