Carter retains Appomattox supervisors seat, GOP sweeps state races

What proved to be a heated race for the position of Courthouse District Supervisor on the Appomattox County Board of Supervisors ended last night with incumbent Samuel Carter managing to hold on to his position, defeating challenger A.R. Evans Jr.

According to the Commonwealth of Virginia Board of Elections website, which posts election results, with three out of four precincts reporting, Carter had accumulated 684 votes to Evans’ 514. The fourth and final precinct’s results had not been posted on the website by press time.

The other in-county races were all uncontested except for a write-in campaign by Karin Robertson for the Appomattox County School Board in the Piney Mountain District.
