Each of the candidates running for Appomattox County Board of Supervisors was invited to provide a statement of his platform to the Times Virginian. Only A.R. Evans replied for the contested Courthouse District seat. The following is his statement.
“Since the beginning I have run a positive campaign. My message is simple: Appomattox can become a stronger, sustainable community for everyone.
“I have lived in Appomattox County my whole life. My family has been here for generations. Yet I know of too many friends who moved away to find good paying jobs to grow their families elsewhere. We as a community now have a lot of youth beginning to enter the workforce. If jobs are not created soon, those young people will look elsewhere, too. Time is ticking! Appomattox deserves new leadership that understands the changing dynamics of the community.
