Man sentenced to eight years for Pamplin Dollar General armed robbery

This afternoon, one of two men charged in the Oct. 23, 2019 armed robbery of the Dollar General store in Pamplin was sentenced in Appomattox County Circuit Court, with Circuit Court Judge Andy Nelson presiding.

Adrian Jerrell Robinson, 24, of Rice, was sentenced to serve eight years in prison for his role in the crime. He had pleaded guilty to nine charges on Oct. 29, 2020.

Robinson was convicted of eight felonies that include use of a firearm in the commission of a felony (first offense), robbery with a gun, three counts of abduction by force, grand larceny, stealing property valued over five dollars, unlawful wearing of a mask, in addition to one misdemeanor charge of destruction of property valued over $1,000.

Use of a firearm in the commission of a felony carries a mandatory three-year minimum sentence in Virginia. The other five years was applied to the robbery with a gun charge.

Robinson also received a total of 35 years (felonies) and 12 months (misdemeanor) of suspended time and must pay $2,203.25 in restitution to Dollar General.

Robinson and co-defendant DeMalik Quintaris Wade, of Pamplin, entered Dollar General by breaking the front door glass right after the store closed. They ordered two employees and one customer to get behind the counter and stole $1,700. The firearm that was used in the robbery turned out to be a pellet gun, but appeared to be authentic to the victims.

Wade entered an Alford Plea in court for his charges on Feb. 11, and is scheduled to be sentenced on Dec. 14.
