The sentencing date for a male juvenile convicted for the death of five horses at a property in Spout Spring was postponed until Nov. 9 at 11 a.m. in Appomattox County Circuit Court.
On July 13, the 15-year-old male Spout Spring resident pleaded guilty to one felony count of animal cruelty and five felony counts of maiming or killing fowl or animals. His original sentencing date was set for Thursday, Sept. 28. However, Appomattox County Commonwealth’s Attorney Les Fleet, who is handling the case, had to be out of town and could not be present at last week’s proceeding. Appomattox County Deputy Commonwealth’s Attorney Kia Scott explained the situation to the court and Judge Andy Nelson, who granted the request for a new sentencing date.
