Some customers who purchased gasoline at the Murphy USA convenience store in Appomattox last Thursday have reported experiencing trouble with their vehicles.

The Times Virginian contacted the store today, asking to speak with a manager or assistant manager. However, a store employee who answered the phone said the store was not permitted to disclose any information and suggested contacting the corporate office. The Times Virginian contacted the Murphy USA corporate office in El Dorado, Ark., and left a message via voicemail. No reply has been received at the time of this report.

As of today, the store is not selling regular unleaded or mid-grade unleaded plus gasoline. The pump buttons are covered with notices that read "TEMPORARILY OUT OF THIS GRADE."

There are also other notices posted at the pumps, one from the Virginia Department of Agriculture that reads "STOP SALE" and "THIS LOT VIOLATES STATE LAW AND IS PROHIBITED FROM SALE."

The third notice, from the Virginia Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services Office of Weights and Measures reads in part "CONDEMNED FOR REPAIRS."

While an investigation into the cause of the gasoline issues is underway, the store is still selling premium unleaded plus and diesel fuel.
