For the Town of Pamplin City, change is a big part of life as the town continues to rebuild Main Street into a hub of activity. In the course of these changes, Pamplin welcomed a new clerk, Rebecca McFadden, to replace Elizabeth “Libby” Mitchel.
“Hiring a new clerk will give Libby the ability to devote more time to grant writing and administration,” stated Mayor Sarah Hamlett Blackwell.
Mitchel took the helm of town clerk of Pamplin back in 2018. Her work has been recognized by both the mayor (Billy Horton at the time and now Blackwell) during her time as clerk.
“Libby is still employed by the town in a grant writing role, which was a portion of her original job description at hire,” said Blackwell. “We’re so excited for the next chapter in Pamplin’s revitalization plan. Our hope is to be able to secure state, federal and private grant funding to redevelop the downtown area at the new trail head and focus it on the upcoming trail expansion.”
