New Year wreck

Appomattox County first responders started the new year by responding to a single-vehicle motor vehicle accident early Saturday morning in the 300 block of R road off Route 460.

The vehicle, a tan Toyota four-door sedan, was found with significant damage head-on into a tree.

Law enforcement personnel shut down the entrance to Spout Spring Road coming off Route 460 at the entrance closest to Frank’s Place until the scene was cleared.

The driver of the vehicle was assessed and taken to Lynchburg General Hospital.

Responding to the accident were the Appomattox Volunteer Fire Department, Concord Rescue Squad with a first responder from Appomattox County Rescue Squad, Virginia State Police, Appomattox County Sheriff’s Office and Lee Grant Towing.
