Virginia State Police issued a press release regarding a fatal motor vehicle accident in Campbell County involving an Appomattox resident.
At 10:02 a.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 19, Virginia State Police responded to a single-vehicle crash on Route 24 (Village Highway) just east of Virginia Circle.
A 2004 Chevrolet Silverado was traveling west on Route 24 when it ran off the left side of the road and struck a tree.
The driver, Clarence A. Bailey, III, 74, of Appomattox, Va., died at the scene. He was wearing a seatbelt.
The crash remains under investigation.
