Twenty dedicated men and women attended the “Stop the Bleed” and basic handheld radio classes held Tuesday, Sept. 22, by the Appomattox County Militia.
A certified trainer and paramedic lead the class and walked the participants through the procedures necessary to stop severe bleeding common in auto accidents and everyday activities.
After his slide presentation, everyone participated in hands-on training that included arm, leg and torso bleeds.
All militia members are required to be trained in first aid, and this training is one of those required for several of the militia’s levels of membership.
