Tuesday in Appomattox County Circuit Court, 22-year-old Demalik Quintaris Wade, of Pamplin, was sentenced to serve eight years of active incarceration for his role in a two-man armed robbery of the Pamplin Dollar General store in October 2019.
Three years is mandatory minimum jail time for the conviction of using a firearm in the commission of a felony. Five years was given for the conviction of robbery of a business with a gun.
Wade's partner in the crime, 24-year-old Adrian Jerrell Robinson, of Rice, was the one who handled the gun during the robbery. He also received eight years at his sentencing in November.
As it turned out, the gun was actually said to be a BB-gun but appeared to be a real firearm. Robinson and Wade robbed over $2,000 and forced two Dollar General employees and a customer to crouch behind the counter after they had broken into the store at closing time. One of the victims testified at Wade's sentencing hearing.
