Today at 5:19 p.m. the Appomattox County Rescue Squad and Virginia State Police responded to a two-vehicle accident on U.S. 460 West in front of Wendy's Restaurant in Appomattox.

According to the Virginia State Police trooper at the scene, a commercial FINN HydroSeeder truck rear-ended a black 2010 Ford Taurus. The Taurus had slowed down as the stoplight in front of Wendy's turned yellow when the truck collided with the back-end of the car.

Both vehicles then pulled off the roadway at the Express Lane gas station.

Two adult women and two children were in the Taurus. The children were examined by medics, who reported no injuries.

The Taurus sustained moderate damage to the back-end but was drivable.

The driver of the 14-wheeler truck was 50-year-old Steven Dean, of Danville, who was charged with following too close.
