Appomattox FFA donates ‘Souper Bowl’ food, money to local hunger organizations

The Appomattox County High School (ACHS) FFA Chapter helped to organize the fifth annual Souper Bowl. During an FFA meeting, students studied facts about food insecurity released by the Blue Ridge Area Food Bank.

According to the Blue Ridge Area Food Bank’s website, “1 out of every 8 children struggles with hunger. 1 out of every 12 neighbors living in the Blue Ridge Service Area struggles with hunger. 10.6 percent of Virginians are food insecure.”

Motivated to address the food insecurity concerns in this community, FFA members developed a plan to collect food and monetary donations for those in need.
