The first annual Battle of the Badges softball tournament was held Sunday afternoon at Appomattox Community Park. Four local first-responder agencies, along with families and friends, came together for what the Appomattox County Rescue Squad described on its Facebook page as “a great day with plenty of laughter.”
“Most of the times when we see each other, it’s not under great circumstances,” the post continued. “We can all agree this event was needed.”
According to the post, the tournament is expected to be an ongoing annual event. Proceeds assist local public safety departments.
Trophy Winners:
First Place: Pamplin Volunteer Fire Department
Second Place: Appomattox Volunteer Fire Department
