Historic season ends for Appomattox volleyball in state quarterfinal

The Appomattox Raiders volleyball team's historic 2022 season came to an end Saturday night with a state quarterfinal loss at Gate City.

The Raiders had finished as runner-up to Glenvar in the VHSL Region 2C Championship match but became the first volleyball team in the history of Appomattox County High School to reach a state-level tournament.

Gate City defeated Appomattox in three sets (25-23, 25-20, 25-18) in the Class 2 State Quarterfinals to advance to the next round.

Appomattox finished the season at 22-2.
