The Appomattox Raiders golf team completed a highly successful district 2023 season (9-1) by winning the Dogwood District Tournament, held on Sept. 20 at Falling River Country Club.
Appomattox topped the field with a low total score of 340. Chatham finished 10 strokes behind (350) to secure second place. Dan River was third (364), followed by William Campbell (383) and Altavista (394).
The Raiders’ Gavyn Simpson shot the low individual round of the day with an 82 and was named the Dogwood District Golfer of the Year.
Appomattox coach Doug Marshall was named the Dogwood District Coach of the Year.
Appomattox golfers who earned All-District honors were Gavyn Simpson, Kyle Davis and Coleman Almond.
The Raiders traveled to Ashley Plantation Country Club on Monday, Sept. 25 for the SubRegion Tournament. Results will be updated in next week’s edition.
