Appomattox Insights: Our County at Work – Tippy Lucado

Howdy Friends! Our wonderful Appomattox County is God-blessed with many great places, things and people. Our county has a population of a bit over 17,000. It takes a collective effort of more than a few dedicated and talented people to manage and operate our county’s local government. From time to time, I’ll be interviewing these folks whose job it is to make our county run. I’ve already featured a few.

I had the great pleasure of interviewing Mrs. Tippy Lucado, our county’s Human Resources/Payroll/Benefit Specialist, who for the past 20 years has worked in our county’s Administration Office. And yes, Tippy wears a LOT of hats! If I were to list and describe all the jobs and duties she performs, I reckon it would take about 11 columns here in Appomattox Insights.

Did you know our county has about 136 employees? And Tippy manages each of their payrolls. But that’s just the beginning. Included in that is everyone’s insurance, retirement package management, quarterly taxes and W2’s…and a few other things I’ve forgotten. But you get the idea. This would be a full-time job in itself. But there is the other stuff she does every day, too.
