The trial of a Concord man accused of sexual crimes against a minor has been delayed until Aug. 13.
Christopher Dustin Mayberry, 33, appeared in Appomattox County Circuit Court on March 5 and made a request to have a jury trial instead of settling on a plea bargain or having a bench trial.
The request was made to Circuit Court Judge Andy Nelson through Mayberry’s attorney Jordan Davies.
Mayberry also waived his right to a speedy trial.
According to court records, Mayberry is charged with four felony counts of taking indecent liberties with a child under age 15, one count of felony aggravated sexual battery of a child under age 13, one felony count of displaying of child pornography or grooming video or materials to a child under age 13, one felony count of object sexual penetration on a victim under age 13, and one misdemeanor charge of contributing to the delinquency of a minor.
Mayberry is currently held without bond at the Blue Ridge Regional Jail. He was booked into the jail on March 30, 2019, three days after the alleged offenses.
