At Tuesday’s Appomattox Town Council workshop meeting, Councilman Nathan Simpson brought up the issue of local food truck business growth. In particular, he wanted the council to take short-term action and also make long-term plans regarding food truck policies in the town code.
Simpson proposed beginning discussion on what he termed “creation of pilot food truck park program. The short-term change he is looking for is allowing Alan Briceland, owner of Iceland’s ice cream and dessert truck, to set up six tables outside his stand, which is now on his own property. “We need more entrepreneurs like you, Simpson told Briceland, who was in attendance at the meeting. Simpson applauded Briceland’s plans to grow his business, which is good for the community, as well.
In the end, the group came to a consensus that Briceland could begin moving forward with his plans, and the council would vote on it in the next regularly scheduled meeting.
