The Appomattox County Board of Supervisors approved a request to appropriate $5,000 to the budget line of the Appomattox County Circuit Court Clerk’s Office at the Sept. 19 meeting.
Circuit Court Clerk Janet Hix appeared at the meeting to discuss the request, which raises the salaries of the clerk and employees of the office.
The Virginia General Assembly has agreed to legislation that funds an increase of salaries of all Circuit Court Clerks and their Compensation Board funded staff positions of $1,250, effective Aug. 1, to be applied on top of a five percent base salary increase across-the-board for all constitutional officers and their employees, also effective Aug. 1.
