The Appomattox Raiders girls soccer team remains undefeated at 7-0 (2-0 in the Dogwood District) after defeating their Dogwood District opponent Nelson County Governors 6-1 on Wednesday, April 26 at Bragg Stadium, downing Mecklenburg 4-2 at home Monday, and beating Chatham 8-0 on the road Wednesday.

Against Nelson County, Catey Paulette recorded a hat trick with three goals on the night, all coming in the first half. She opened the scoring a little more than five minutes into the game. Lyndsey Lawson passed left to Paulette and the Nelson goalie ran forward to challenge Paulette. However, Paulette’s kick slid under the goalie and into the net.

Around six minutes later, Alexa McNamara placed a perfect corner kick in front of the goal, where Paulette’s header was good to give the Raiders a 2-0 lead.

“Alex’s corner (kick) went straight to my head. I was really happy because that was my first header goal,” Paulette said.

At the 13:30 mark, Lawson, the team’s leading goal scorer on the season with 14, fired a shot into the upper right corner for the Raiders’ third goal.
