The “Bash Brothers” of Major League Baseball fame were a pair of Oakland A’s players in the late 1980s and early 1990s named Mark McGwire and Jose Canseco, who were known for their power hitting.
On May 3, the Appomattox Raiders softball team put on their own version of the “Bash Sisters” as four players bashed home runs, powering their way to a 10-0 win over the Chatham Cavaliers.
Solo home runs by Myah Kelso (2nd inning), Bailey Hamilton (3rd inning), Sydney Bryant (5th inning), and Haleigh Tweedy (6th inning) led Appomattox (18-1) to their 16th consecutive win of the season. Tweedy’s blast ended the game due to the high school Mercy Rule.
