On Sunday, April 2, The Appomattox United Daughters of the Confederacy Chapter 11 held its annual Memorial Service at the Appomattox UDC Cemetery. This special service is held every April to honor the fallen 18 Confederate soldiers along with one Union soldier buried there.

A large crowd was on hand to pay their respects for those men. On that day wreaths were placed, along with flags and flowers on every grave, and poems were read. There were also muskets and cannons being fired to celebrate during this service.
