On Tuesday evening, U.S. Congressman Bob Good, who represents Virginia's 5th District, visited Appomattox for a tour of the future site of the vocational school that is planned by Appomattox Christian Academy (ACA) to open in the fall 2023 semester.

ACA is working in conjunction with the Central Virginia Community College (CVCC) Appomattox Center on the educational program. It will provide various vocational training options and duel-enrollment for ACA and county students to obtain job-ready skills and certification in fields such as welding, health and human services, and more. Renovations at the space are currently underway.

CVCC also occupies space at the Carver-Price Center, which was formerly the location of the Appomattox Elementary School and also currently houses the Carver-Price Legacy Museum.

Before the tour, which was led by ACA Board Chairman Bruce Boone, Good spoke briefly to the Appomattox County Board of Supervisors in regard to the current state of economics in the United States. The tour was also attended by several employees of ACA and Appomattox County Director of Community Development Johnnie Roark.

ACA awarded Good with a Certificate of Appreciation for his efforts in the local community.
