Appomattox Raiders golfer Owen Chavis participated in Monday's Class 2 State Golf Tournament and finished in a two-way tie for 17th place in a field of 60 competitors.
Chavis scored a mark of 81 in the par-72 course, placing him alongside Mason Gilliland of James River.
The tournament was held at the Great Oaks Country Club in Floyd.
McCartney Hinkle of Graham was the Class 2 State individual winner with a score of 73.
Floyd County won the team competition with an overall score of 315. Appomattox did not participate in the team competition.
