The Appomattox Raiders football squad will host the Alleghany Mountaineers in its VHSL Region 2C opening playoff game Thursday night at 7 p.m. at Bragg Stadium.
The game was originally scheduled for Friday but was moved to avoid expected rainy weather from Tropical Storm Nicole.
Appomattox (7-3) finished the regular season on a six-game winning streak, making them the Dogwood District champions.
Alleghany (6-4) finished in fourth place in the Three Rivers District.
The Raiders are the fourth seed in Class 2C, and the Mountaineers are fifth.
In other Region 2C matchups this week, Radford (No. 1) hosts Gretna (No. 8), Martinsville (No. 2) hosts Dan River (No. 7) and Glenvar (No. 3) hosts Floyd County (No. 6).
