The Appomattox Raiders boys basketball team won one of three games last week, maintaining their overall winning record of 11-6 and holding steady with a 4-3 record in the Dogwood District.
The Raiders won at Altavista 64-53 on Friday but lost at Gretna 55-49 and at home to Buckingham 62-56.
The game against the Buckingham Knights was close throughout, with the largest scoring margin being a 26-18 lead by Appomattox in the second quarter.
Down 18-12 early in the the quarter, Appomattox went on a 14-point run, highlighted by 3-pointers from Levi Mann and Riley Chandler, and an inside dish by Chandler to Owen Chavis for a low post layup.
Chavis later made a strong inside man-to-man offensive move in the paint for a bucket and 28-23 lead. Max Nitti followed with a steal and fast break but missed the shot. Chandler grabbed the offensive rebound and put it in for two points.
Appomattox visits Nelson County tonight at 7 p.m.
