Raiders football dominates Dan River, to visit Floyd in regional

The Appomattox Raiders football team capped off the 2024 regular season with a whopping 45-10 road win over the Dan River Wildcats on Friday night. The victory is the fourth consecutive for the Raiders, improving their record to 4-6 after beginning the season 0-6.

Appomattox finished third in the Dogwood District (4-2) behind Altavista (6-0) and Gretna (5-1). Dan River is fifth in the Dogwood (2-4) with a 3-7 overall record.

The Raiders travel to Floyd County on Friday to begin postseason play in the Region 2C quarterfinal round. The Buffaloes, fourth in the Three Rivers District, finished the regular season 5-5 but have lost their last three games to Radford, Glenvar and Alleghany. Kickoff time is 7 p.m.
