CVCC awarded $1.5 M grant from U.S. Department of Labor

LYNCHBURG, Va. — Central Virginia Community College (CVCC) is pleased to announce its award of $1,514,520 through the U.S. Department of Labor's Strengthening Community Colleges (SCC) Training Grant - Round 5. This significant development is part of a $65 million national investment designed to increase access to affordable, high-quality training, particularly in industries such as advanced manufacturing, semiconductors, and biotechnology.

With SCC funding, CVCC is joining forces with local employers like Framatome, Delta Star, and BWXT, as well as workforce agencies, community organizations, and schools, to enhance its Advanced Manufacturing career pathways. This initiative aims to address the Greater Lynchburg Region's growing need for skilled workers. The program will deliver job-focused education, offering upskilling opportunities for the existing workforce and dual enrollment options for high school students, paving the way for a stronger and more adaptable talent pipeline.
