A red Mercedes Benz is shown in the median of U.S. Route 460 after a two-vehicle accident at around 2:30 p.m. today just past the Route 26 exit in Appomattox.

A two-vehicle accident occurred at around 2:30 p.m. today on U.S. Route 460 eastbound just past the Route 26 exit in Appomattox.

According to a Virginia State Police trooper at the scene, the driver of a red Mercedes Benz drifted left and struck a grey Honda Civic in the front right door panel, then crossed the median into the westbound lane, where she traveled for approximately 500 yards before the vehicle was trapped into the median and came to a stop.

The trooper said that there was a possibility that there was a medical emergency, so he hasn’t determined if a driver was at fault or comment on whether there will be any charges.

The driver of the Honda Civic was taken on a stretcher by the Appomattox Rescue Squad and transported to the hospital. The trooper said that this was done as a precaution, as the person had minor injuries – nothing life-threatening.

The Mercedes Benz was towed by Pamplin Exxon Towing.

Also responding were the Appomattox County Sheriff’s Office and Engine 3 with the Appomattox Volunteer Fire Department, which soon left as they were not needed.
