Stough appointed to fill vacant school board seat

On Thursday night the Appomattox County School Board appointed Mr. Roger Stough to fill the vacant Falling River District seat on an interim basis, where he will serve until at least Dec. 31, 2021.

A formal public election will be held in November 2021, for which Stough will be eligible to run.

The vacancy was created when Bobby K. Waddell resigned recently before his term expired. Waddell moved out of the Falling River District to a new location in the county.

Stough, who works in Appomattox as an attorney, was one of five who interviewed for the spot Thursday night. The others were Dr. Jeffrey Garrett, Mr. Travis O’Brien, Mrs. Dixie Sears and Ms. Kia Scott.
