This afternoon in Appomattox County Circuit Court, a man accused of selling marijuana to a minor at the Triangle Tobacco and Vape Shop in Appomattox pleaded no contest to two felony charges.
Ebrahim Ali-Mohammed Al-Gamli, 26, of Brooklyn, N.Y., entered his plea on charges of marijuana distribution less than one ounce to a minor and possession with intent to distribute marijuana of more than one-half ounce and less than five ounces.
As per today's court proffer by Appomattox County Commonwealth's Attorney Les Fleet, the sale took place on Aug. 22, 2022 when Al-Gamli, who worked as a cashier, sold 2.022 grams to the minor for $20 after the minor requested to purchase "flower," which is a code name for marijuana, and presented several glass jars to the minor from which to choose.
The Central Virginia Drug and Gang Task Force returned with a search warrant a week later and seized a number of items, including three jars containing a green plant-like material that measured out to several ounces after analysis at a state forensic laboratory.
Circuit Court Judge Andy Nelson accepted the no contest plea but agreed to withhold final judgement until a March 28, 2024 court date, a request made by defense attorney Joseph Sanzone and agreed to by Fleet. Further evidence is to be presented and argued at the March 28 hearing, along with the submission of a completed pre-sentence report.
