Les Fleet

Les Fleet is sworn into the new role of Commonwealth’s Attorney for Appomattox County. Holding the Bible is his wife, Bonnie. To the right is Appomattox’s Circuit County Clerk, Janet A. Hix.

Friends and family stood watching as Leslie M. “Les” Fleet was sworn in Friday to take on the role of Commonwealth’s Attorney for Appomattox County. The attorney solemnly listened as he stood inside the county’s courthouse to take the mantle.

“Do you, Leslie M. Fleet, solemnly swear or affirm that you will support the constitution of the United States and the constitution of the Commonwealth of Virginia and that you will faithfully and impartially discharge all the duties that come upon you as commonwealth attorney for Appomattox County to fill an unexpired term ending Dec. 31, 2019, according to the best of your ability, so help you God?” asked Appomattox’s Circuit County Clerk, the honorable Janet A. Hix.

“I do,” said Fleet.

And so began a new chapter in the attorney’s life and the day to day life of the county’s court system.
