Appomattox County High School sophomore Jay Harris competed in the FFA State Finals Tractor Operating Career Development Event (CDE) in Harrisonburg on April 13.

Harris competed against 13 students from across the Commonwealth. He placed first in the four-wheel wagon event and first in the written exam component of the contest. He was the overall high individual among the FFA members present.

Harris has qualified to represent Virginia at the National Eastern Regional event held at The Big E in Springfield, Mass. in September.
