One point of discussion at the Pamplin Town Council meeting Tuesday, Jan. 12, at the Pamplin Depot was a maintenance contract for the depot’s heating system.

The company they normally work with for repairs did not provide a timely response, so they reached out to T&L Equipment for help.

T&L Equipment repaired the issue for $262 — including labor. The mayor said the cost was a big difference from what they had been paying the other company for repairs.

T&L proposed a maintenance service for the town. To get the six units at the depot on a maintenance plan, it would cost $1,650 per year. The plan includes a fall and spring service check on all six units. No action was taken at this time.

Prior to the discussion on a possible maintenance contract, the treasurer’s report took place. Account balances were listed as follows: $29,081.68 for general fund, $5,780.14 for payroll and $13,385.37 for utility.

It was announced that there was little interest from residents in the SCC Coronavirus Relief Funds for municipal utilities. Since the letters were sent out to delinquent account holders with notice of the available funds, most have either moved out of town or taken care of the delinquent accounts on their own.

Pamplin’s next town council meeting will take place at 5:30 p.m. Feb. 9.
