Cortney Rawes, a 2019 graduate of Appomattox County High School and a vital member of the 2018 and 2019 state playoff Raider softball teams, was named as the Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) Co-Player of the Week. Rawes shares the honor with Cameron Durr of Emory & Henry.
Rawes is currently a freshman softball player for the University of Lynchburg Hornets.
The official website of the NCAA currently ranks the Hornets as number 12 in the top 25 of Division III softball.

Rawes, a first-year (player) from Appomattox, Va., put together a strong first few games to start the 2020 season, including a walk-off effort to help the Hornets to a 3-1 beginning to the schedule.
Rawes went 5-for-8 with a double, two RBI, a run scored, and a stolen base in three appearances. She doubled in her lone at bat in a 1-0 setback to William Peace.
Rawes went 4-for-7 in a sweep of Methodist, beginning with a 2-for-3 showing with a stolen base and a run scored in a 4-0 win in game one. She went 2-for-4 in game two with the latter of her two hits a walk-off two-run single with one down in the seventh inning for a 3-2 victory over the Monarchs.
