The Appomattox Raiders indoor track and field team competed in Friday’s VHSL Class 1/2 Region C and Region D Championships at Roanoke College. The Appomattox girls finished second in overall team scores, and the boys team finished fifth.

In addition, Raiders senior Nadiyah Abdussalaam was named the 2022-23 Region C Indoor Track & Field Athlete of the Year.

The girls finished with 105 team points, just seven behind winner Region C winner Floyd County’s 112. The boys totaled 32 team points. Glenvar won the Region C boys division with 128 points.

Two Appomattox girls won their respective individual events. Abdussalaam won the pole vault at a height of 7 feet, 6 inches. Harmony Troxler won the triple jump with a distance of 34 feet, 6 inches.
