Seven games into the 2022 regular season, the Appomattox Raiders varsity baseball team is rolling along with a 7-0 record as spring break week is in effect at Appomattox County High School.
The Raiders were busy winning on Monday, the first official day of spring break, as they traveled to Randolph-Henry and shutout the Statesmen 15-0.
On Friday, the Raiders recorded another shutout, downing the Nelson County Governors 10-0 at home.
In a forerunner of things to come, Trey Shrock led off the bottom of the first inning with a home run to left-center field off Governors pitcher Michael Fitzgerald to put the Raiders up 1-0.
Shrock knew he had hit the ball well off a fastball but ran the bases hard anyway just in case the ball landed in the field of play.
