On Tuesday, Feb. 15, the Appomattox Raiders boys varsity basketball team closed out its 2021-22 regular season with a 47-34 loss to the visiting William Campbell Generals.

It was also Senior Night, during which senior members of the Raiders boys basketball team, cheerleading squad, and track and field team were honored before the game. The three boys basketball honorees were Dakota Wheeler, Jake Maner and Jayden DeMedeiros. Fellow seniors Ervis Davin and Brandon Adams, both starters, were unavailable for the game and Senior Night ceremonies.

In game action, Appomattox jumped out to an 8-2 lead by the end of the first quarter. The three available seniors were in the starting lineup, and the Raiders put forth solid trap defense to keep the Generals at bay offensively.

DeMontay Fleshman was vital in the opening run for Appomattox, connecting on a three-pointer, stealing a front court pass and going in to score on a layup and foul, and scoring again on a backdoor pass from Gabe Nitti.
