Research has shown that after-school programs are beneficial for children. The Appomattox Extension Office is a proud supporter of the Appomattox Elementary School Extracurricular After-School Clubs. Extension personnel and volunteers currently run three clubs: Archery, Rocketry and Gardening.

Each Monday, students at AES who signed up for the after-school program, have activities to do in their particular club. There are nine clubs offering a wide variety of interesting and educational hands-on fun for the youth: Archery, Gardening, Rocketry, Get Wild in Nature, Brainy Games, Minecraft, Volleyball, Environmental Explorers, and Helping Hands. The AES after school clubs are run for six weeks in the fall and spring each year.
