The warm weather has put us fishermen/women in the mood to go fishing. If you are like me and hang up your fishing poles when the weather gets too cold to enjoy, we need to get them ready now to enjoy the spring fishing season.

I know a lot of fishermen use reel magic to keep the line on the spool from twisting up (memory). After four to five months of having your fishing poles leaning up against the wall or hanging on a rack, the line will twist in a bunch of circles when you cast it. If you’re one of the fishermen that doesn’t change your fishing line, then you can do this simple trick.

Before you can do this trick, you need to go to a yard sale or flea market and buy a coffee maker. It doesn’t have to be a top of the line coffee maker but just one that works. Now that you have the coffee maker you are ready to get rid of all those line circles on your reel. Fill the coffee pot up with just water — no coffee. Let the coffee maker run its course. In the meantime, grab one of those fishing poles that have been hanging up all winter and tie a sinker to the end of your line. You don’t want or need a fishing bait tied to the end of the line.
