The month of March is named after Mars, the Roman god of war. The March birthstone is the aquamarine and the flower is the daffodil. The saying that March “comes in like a lion and goes out like a lamb” means that the weather is very cold at the beginning part of the month and gets warmer at the end of the month. A few of March’s observances are: National Craft Month, National March Into Literacy Month, Paws To Read Month, National Cherry Blossom Festival (3/19-4/16), National Peanut Lovers Day (3/1)1, Dress in Blue Day (3/3), National Play Outside Day (3/4), Oreo Cookie Day (3/6), Johnny Appleseed Day (3/11), Daylight Saving Time Begins (3/12 — turn ahead one hour, at 2 a.m.), Potato Chip Day (3/14), St. Patrick's Day (3/17), World Frog Day (3/20), World Poetry Day (3/21), and many more. We will be posting some of these observances and others in a fun, entertaining and educational manner on our Facebook page. Be sure to visit us daily to see what we are up to!
March madness has descended upon the library! We have so many programs and events booked for March and April that we encourage you to keep an eye out in the local paper’s Community Calendar, and our Facebook and Instagram accounts @JamersonLibrary.
