Some time ago I had a conversation with an individual who had some history of promoting a certain aspect of Appomattox and our discussion included some musings about our future, etc. One point raised by this individual expressed a certain degree of frustration with our community in regards to seeking progress on a variety of fronts. He/she stated something to the effect that there are some individuals in key positions in Appomattox that do not want progress — any changes are viewed by them as inconveniences to their lives.

I do not have any direct experience to support or challenge this viewpoint, nor do I have knowledge of the positions or individuals referenced by this individual. I have, on occasion, mentioned this opinion in general conversation and gotten agreement from those within earshot. Again, the conversation did not get specific regarding whom.
