Leona Wells Carrico, 89, of Richmond Highway, Evergreen, died Saturday, March 23, 2019, in Guggenheimer Health and Rehabilitation. She was the loving wife of the late William Monroe “Billy” Carrico.
Born in Strasburg, June 30,1929, she was a daughter of the late Dovie Stanley and Henry Wells. Leona was a member of Evergreen United Methodist Church. She was a seamstress at Appomattox Garment Factory for 44 years.
She is survived by one daughter, Evelyn Carrico “Sissy” Thompson and husband, Walter of Evergreen; two grandchildren, Dean Thompson and wife, Debbie, and Dana Eagle, all of Evergreen; eight grandchildren, David Thompson, Erin Hodges and husband, Derick, Lauren Thompson, Gabe Thompson, Noah Thompson, Jacob Eagle, Joshua Eagle, and Jayden Eagle; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by one brother, Gus Wells, and one sister, Geneva Kelly.
A memorial service will be held Sunday, April 7, 2019, at 2:30 p.m. at Evergreen United Methodist Church. The family will receive guests after the service.
